Commissioning

Commissioning covers Wi-Fi connectivity setup, controller assignment to an installation in the Web Platform, input and output parameterisation, and functional verification of the connected circuits.

Before powering up

Complete the following checks before beginning network setup or device association.

  1. 1Verify the product model, hardware revision, power supply, terminal markings and protective devices.
  2. 2Have access to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and its credentials; for WPS, use only the network prepared for switchButler IoT.
  3. 3Have a Web Platform account for qualified personnel and open https://sbiot.elbro.com. This access is intended for installers, maintenance personnel and installation administrators.

First start, Wi-Fi and association

When the network and server connections are ready, continue in the Web Platform with installation association and configuration. The screens show the WPS confirmation and the data used to associate the controller.

Language

Select the language used by the local interface before choosing a network setup path.

Wi-Fi method

Choose either Bluetooth or WPS. The next two screens are alternative procedures, so follow only the selected path.

Bluetooth

For the Bluetooth path, keep the controller nearby and use the displayed identifier to continue the guided scan in the Web Platform; do not also perform the WPS path.

WPS

As an alternative to Bluetooth, use a Wi-Fi network whose SSID has the form SB-IoT-… with at least one character after the hyphen, and whose password contains 8–63 characters. While this screen is active, press the WPS button on the prepared access point.

WPS connected

This is a transitional confirmation and requires no action. The controller automatically continues with the server connection.

Associate the device

In the Web Platform, select Add device and scan the QR code, or enter the device ID and the current six-digit code manually. Scroll the display if the complete device ID is not visible.

These screen images are based on photographs of the real device, and the interface is shown in English. The QR code and six-digit code in the association image are non-operational demonstration values.

Connect the controller

Choose the required Wi-Fi setup method. Credentials are transferred only through the guided procedure; no internal communication parameters need to be entered.

Bluetooth setup
  1. 1On the display, select the language and choose Bluetooth as the Wi-Fi setup method.
  2. 2Open https://sbiot.elbro.com, sign in with the Web Platform account, open the relevant installation and select Add device.
  3. 3Choose Bluetooth, allow browser access and select the switchButler controller shown nearby.
  4. 4Select the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, enter its password and confirm. Keep the computer or mobile device close until the display confirms the connection.
WPS setup
  1. 1Select WPS on the display. The connection attempt starts automatically when the WPS screen opens.
  2. 2Start WPS on the prepared access point within its permitted time window and wait for the controller to confirm the connection.
  3. 3If the attempt fails, use Retry on the controller and restart WPS on the access point.
  4. 4Continue in the Web Platform only after the controller shows that the network connection is ready.

Installation and device association

The controller is assigned to an installation. End-user access is then granted through that installation's permissions; a customer record alone does not assign the device.

  1. 1Open https://sbiot.elbro.com and sign in with the Web Platform account; create the installation if it does not already exist.
  2. 2Open the installation, select Add device and use Bluetooth, the QR code or manual entry according to the information shown by the controller.
  3. 3Confirm the association, then assign a clear device name and its physical location.
  4. 4Verify that the controller appears online in the installation before continuing with I/O configuration.

Configure relays and digital inputs

Field wiring defines the electrical signal; platform configuration defines how each channel is interpreted and which operational action or event follows.

  1. 1Name every relay and input according to the connected circuit and physical location.
  2. 2For each input, specify whether it is used and select the correct mode: contact closed, contact open, voltage present or voltage absent.
  3. 3Set alarm and restore delays to filter contact bounce or brief transitions without hiding relevant states.
  4. 4Create the required event rules, recipients and authorised actions; configuration does not replace electrical or functional safeguards.
  5. 5Apply the configuration and wait until the device reports the updated revision before testing channels.

Functional test and handover

Test the complete installation under controlled conditions before handover.

  1. 1Operate every input and verify its normal, alarm and restored states in the Web Platform.
  2. 2Test every relay only after confirming the connected load and the required de-energised state.
  3. 3Verify behaviour after sensor loss, temporary network loss, power interruption and controller restart where applicable.
  4. 4Record the final configuration, installation location and authorised users, then hand over only the functions intended for the operator.
